Do you remember “Big Yellow Taxi” by Joni Mitchell? If you don’t know her original, you’ve no doubt heard one of the 470 cover versions of this song (no joke! Look it up)
It is timeless, no doubt, because everyone knows the feeling of appreciating our blessings or “paradise” only when it is lost.
It is also very timely for the chapter of life we are in, this new normal of virus fear, with so much unknown and so much of the “normal” suddenly plucked away.
How are we going to do this? I’ve asked and prayed repeatedly. I’ve thought about the small daily frustrations and had thoughts like, how nice it would be to go stand in a normal grocery line!
I cling to God’s mercies new every morning, and I am challenged anew by Psalm 118 reminding me, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His faithful love endures forever.”
This is my hope, this is where I rest my anxious heart…. And in the meantime, I will look for big and small things to be thankful for.
I love you Zanna!
My darling Zanna. I really needed to hear your contemplations right now. They get me out of my scared little space. I know you probably won't understand this, but I forget to pray. I don't need anyone to tell me or remind me to pray, but when I hear your faith, it fills me with promise. I am blessed to have you in my life! Please stay safe, stay healthy, and know that Robin and I love you, Wayne, and Rachel dearly. ~Fran
