From Fellow Warrior BecLeann (AKA Becca)

This poetry and artwork come from a lovely lady with many years of seizures and a VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulator) as well. Even with the VNS and numerous meds, her seizures continue and she leads a difficult life.

But she also has a heart of gold, faith in God, an amazing mind, and an artistic flair that is enviable.

For understanding, her dog is a heaven-sent blessing who senses her seizures and acts differently in the hours prior, giving Bec a significant warning. Here is some of her writing:

I feel so alone

Yet I am not, never left too far behind

Always someone through the doorway

Just on the other side

I hear them talk, laugh, giggle and play

Sometimes even cry as the stories unfold, my heart breaks…especially when I hear  someone ask

“Hey what’s on the other side?”

“Oh that’s just a girl who doesn’t feel very well, it keeps her from living her life,

But she has a sweet dog that can sense her emotions…and she lays gently on top of her feet…

Just on the other side, something will happen that flows in your soul and heart

But have no fear

Though you feel lost and alone the Lord is always near

He is the One that knows it best

He will guide you through it…

For on the other side are things you cannot dream or imagine

Your soul fills with joy or ache…

My soul burns, I want to run

Yet I am stuck…

Even when life seems so dark

He blesses me with ALL my needs

He is unlocking my heart, soul and this crazy mind

Molding me into who I should be

Bringing out the gifts He gives me if only I stop, listen and give it up to Him…

Becca’s beautiful words remind me of David’s writing in the Psalms:

“Why am I so depressed?

Why this turmoil within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,

My Savior and my God.”

Psalm 42:5
